รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงต่างประเทศสหรัฐฯ จอห์น แคร์รี อยู่ในระหว่างการเยือนกรุงปักกิ่ง สาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน ระหว่างวันที่ 8–10 กรกฎาคม รัฐมนตรีแคร์รีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการคลังสหรัฐ แจ๊ค ลูว์ จะเป็นประธานร่วมกับ นายหยางเจียฉือ มนตรีแห่งรัฐ และนายหวังหยาง รองนายกรัฐมนตรีของจีนในการประชุมหารือทางยุทธศาสตร์และเศรษฐกิจสหรัฐฯ-จีนครั้งที่ 6 การเจรจาครั้งนี้จะเน้นเกี่ยวกับความท้าทายและโอกาสที่ทั้งสองประเทศเผชิญเกี่ยวกับประเด็นความสนใจทางเศรษฐกิจและยุทธศาสตร์ในระยะใกล้และระยะยาวทั้งในระดับทวิภาคี ระดับภูมิภาคและระดับนานาชาติ นอกจากนี้ รัฐมนตรีแคร์รีและนางหลิวเหยียนตง รองนายกรัฐมนตรีของจีนจะร่วมเป็นประธานการประชุมแลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นระดับสูงเกี่ยวกับการแลกเปลี่ยนระดับประชาชนระหว่างสหรัฐฯ กับจีน และเสนอให้กระชับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประชาชนของทั้งสองประเทศ



Secretary Kerry is on travel to Beijing, China, July 8 - 10. In Beijing, Secretary Kerry and Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew will join their Chinese co-chairs, State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Vice Premier Wang Yang, for the sixth joint meeting of the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED). The Dialogue will focus on addressing the challenges and opportunities that both countries face on a wide range of bilateral, regional and global areas of immediate and long-term economic and strategic interest. As President Obama has stated, the United States welcomes the rise of a stable, peaceful and prosperous China that plays a constructive role in world affairs. A prosperous China is good for the United States, and a prosperous United States is good for China. By strengthening our trade and investment ties, addressing threats to our security – cyber, economic, and physical – and confronting global challenges like climate change and wildlife trafficking, we can improve the lives of Americans, Chinese, and people everywhere.

As part of our continuing bilateral cooperation, the United States and China will hold the 5th U.S.-China High-Level Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE) in Beijing, China, July 9-10, 2014, to enhance the role of people-to-people relations in building a new model of U.S.-China relations. The theme of this year’s CPE is “Forging Bonds between Young People, Building a Future of Peace.”
